What is the Business Licensing Act About?

Malawi Business Licensing Act is the section of the republic of Malawi that determines the licensing of the sale of goods by way of business and for the carrying on of certain businesses and for matters connected therewith and incidental thereto. The Act makes provision for the granting of business licences. It contains general provisions applying to all licences and makes provision with respect to licences specific to certain businesses.

Any business the carrying on of which involves operations of national or international dimension or consequences, or is preceded by decisions of policy at national or international level and includes the business of commission agents, clearing and forwarding, banking, insurance, operation of tourist hotels, exporters and importers, transportation by air, manufacturing, building contractors, shipping, commercial traveler, stevedore and lighter age, providing postal services, carrying on a specified profession, regional trading company, district development corporation, co-operative societies, wholesale and any other business which may be specified as such by the Minister responsible.
